If your computer is not backed-up and if a disaster happens to strike. You run a risk of losing all your contacts, all your documents and files, digital images and videos. You may try to re-enter itthe data but it will take too much of your time. Your computer may appear to be working well, but it or its hard drive could fail at any time without notice.
How to back-up your PC
* Decide on the proper back-up media for your PC
like CD-R, DVD-R, tape, hard drives, online, and flash drive are all great choices.
*Choose a back-up application
If you are using Microsoft Windows, there is a back-up application built in (start>programs>Accessories>SystemTools>Backup). If you are using Windows Vista, go to (Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Backup and Restore Centre). There are many more.
*Prepare your backup device of choice.
If you are using a hard drive, it's better to use it just for back-up purpose. Make sure that what ever you are using is ready to accept the back-up. Open your choice ofn application, select the files you wish to keep, select the media where you will be saving the back-up, and start it up.
